Timo Tuominen

Timo Tuominen

Software developer
Bio

Timo joined the City of Helsinki as a code fellow in 2014. Previously, he had been an open data hacker in the public library sector. Currently, a lot of his work revolves around managing the complexity of user interface implementation inside the web browser, but he considers himself a generalist and enjoys working at different levels of software projects.

In his spare time, Timo provides testing, support, and training data for an autonomous learning organism whose development process typically lasts multiple decades. He occasionally (rarely) enjoys the odd agave tequilana based beverage and is known to have played the guitar on several occasions.

Riku Oja

Code Fellow
Bio

Riku joined the team as a brand new code fellow in 2015. His background is in computational physics and urban activism, and coding for the city has allowed him to (sort of) combine the seemingly disparate fields of interest.

In his free time, Riku loves tea, board games, cycling, parkour, friends, city planning, and squirrels, in no particular order.

Jussi Arpalahti

Code Fellow
Bio

Jussi started his new life as a Code Fellow in the spring of 2015. Before that event 15 years flashed by in Government IT, dealing with statistical dissemination systems. Now he alternates his time between coding Python and JavaScript, all the while dreaming of ways to make information more findable and understandable.

When not creating with one device or another, Jussi goes forest biking or plays Ultimate, does copious amounts of reading - sadly more serious stuff than sci-fi these days - or fights with Internet to show him anything interesting.
